Wade Lurk, Body believed to be missing teen found in car
Body believed to be missing teen found in car
A body found in the car removed from Goose Creek Lake in St. Francois County this afternoon is believed to be that of missing Ste. Genevieve teenager Wade M. Lurk, Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff Gary Stolzer said.
"We did locate an individual in the car, who we believe was Wade," Stolzer said.
The car was pulled from the lake shortly before 4 p.m. Stolzer confirmed that the body was found inside the car.
He said he had been called to the lake about noon by fishermen who had spotted the vehicle. The white Nissan Stanza bore plates that had been issued to Lurk, the sheriff said.
Stolzer said he dove into the water and identified the license plates.
"The lake's been searched many times . . . I don't know how the car was missed" until today, he said.
But he said the water in the lake is clearer now than a week ago. Recent rains had made the water clearer, he said.
The car was found about 75 feet from the lake shore in water that was about 15 feet deep, Stolzer said.
He said his office was not ruling out foul play in the incident and would wait for the Missouri Highway Patrol to complete its investigation.
The sheriff called a news conference for 6 p.m. in Ste. Genevieve.
As of right now I haven't located the Press Conference Information. Check Wade's thread at our Main Forum Here.
***UPDATE: Parents Inform the Media, The Body is Wade.***
