According to Beverly Johnson, on Facebook, Mystic Salazar has been found safe.

Approx. 3:46 cdt her mother Jenn received a call saying Mystic was safe and sound in Michigan.

She is in protective custody and Jenn and her husband Amie are going to make arrangements asap to go get her.

Her abductor Enrique is under arrest.

With our main forum being down, due to a Trojan coming through the ads, we have decided to start a new project here on the Blog.

We have many wonderful friends on Face Book under our FromWhispers toRoars ID as well as our personal ID's. Many own or host sites from Missing Persons to Human Trafficking to ALERTS.

So we have decided to feature them here on the blog in one big post.

An endangered child alert has been issued for two children in East Tennessee.

Nickie McGibbon, 8, and his 17-year-old sister Ashley Barahona are missing and believed to be in danger. Authorities believe they're in the custody of their biological mother, Bonita McGibbon.

Authorities said Bonita McGibbon has a violent criminal history, and Nickie McGibbon has significant medical problems that require constant monitoring.

Nicholas William "Nickie" McGibbon is an 8-year-old white boy with blond hair and hazel eyes.

He stands 4'9" and weighs 105 pounds.

Ashley Barahona is a 17-year-old white girl with brown hair and brown eyes. She stands 5'3" and weighs 125 pounds.

The children have been missing from Knoxville since Tuesday, February 9.

They are believed to be traveling in a 1997 gold Chevrolet Cavalier with Tennessee license plate 026TNB. They may be traveling to Florida.

KPD says call 215-6883 to report if you see the vehicle or the children.

GERONIMO, Okla. - Authorities have issued an Amber Alert for a 7-year-old girl from Geronimo.

Police say 46-year-old Lester Hobbs killed his estranged wife, 37-year-old Tonya Hobbs, and then kidnapped her daughter, Aja Daniell Johnson. Tonya Hobbs body was discovered inside her RV parked at 203 Minnesota in Geronimo.

It happened around 10 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Comanche Ave. and Minnesota St. Geronimo police, the Comanche County Sheriff's Department, and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are working the case.

Aja Johnson is a white female, with brown hair and brown eyes. She is bipolar and has other medical conditions.

The murder and kidnapping suspect is a Lester Hobbs. Police believe he may be headed toward his sister's house in Davenport, Okla. He may be driving a 2-door 1992 white Toyota Paseo with Oklahoma license plate number 577-BPW.

The vehicle has no hu8bcaps and plastic covers the rear passenger window.

Hobbs is a white male, 5 ft 9 in. tall and 185 lbs. He is described as having brown hair, brown eyes, a receding hairline, and many tattoos. Hobbs has numerous prior felony charges out of Cleveland County and is carrying the weapon used in the murder.

01/06/09 — We are again in desperate need of volunteers to continue the search for Becky Hamilton, 52, of Huffman, TX, who is the sister of one of our long-time EquuSearch members.

The search will continue on Thursday, January 7, 2010 — we are in need of ATVs, foot searchers and horses.

Police: Missing Fayetteville girl seen in Sanford

Fayetteville, N.C. — Authorities are searching for a man believed to be with a missing 5-year-old Fayetteville girl, police said Thursday.

Police said Shaniya Nicole Davis was seen at a Sanford hotel on Tuesday morning with 29-year-old Mario Andrette McNeill.

A hotel worker called police on Tuesday to report seeing a child matching Shaniya's description, according to Theresa Chance, spokeswoman for the Fayetteville Police Department.

Surveillance video showed the child with McNeill at the hotel at 6:11 a.m., less than a half-hour before she was reported missing from her family's home at 1116-A Sleepy Hollow Drive in Fayetteville.

Police immediately traveled to Sanford, but McNeill had already checked out of the hotel.

Chance said Shaniya appeared to be "well taken care of."

"We believe she is safe. We have no reason to believe he would harm her," Chance said.

McNeill has a criminal history including arrests for fleeing to elude arrest, assault on a female and drug possession.

McNeill's relationship to the child is unknown.

"Whoever has my daughter tonight, I just ask that they let her go and bring her home safe. I miss her and love her very much," said Shaniya's father, Bradley Lockhardt.

Authorities urged McNeill to bring Shaniya to the closest law enforcement or medical facility so she may be safely reunited with her family.

Anyone with information on McNeill or Shaniya is urged to contact the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1856. To leave an anonymous tip, please contact Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.

On Wednesday, police arrested Clarence Darriel Coe, 30, of 211 Brookwood Ave. in Fayetteville, and charged him with first-degree kidnapping in the child's disappearance.

The girl's mother, Antoinette Davis, said she put Shaniya on the couch in their home at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. When she went to check on her daughter about an hour later, the girl was missing, Davis told police.

An Amber Alert was initiated for Shaniya several hours later.

A witness saw a man police believe to be Coe driving away from the Sleepy Hollow Mobile Home Park on Tuesday with the girl in his car, police said. Chance declined to identify the witness or say what time the abduction occurred.

A neighbor of the Davis family, Andrea Moore, said she was awakened at about 3 a.m. Tuesday by a banging noise outside her home.

The kidnapping wasn't random, Chance said, noting Coe knows the Davis family. She declined to elaborate on how he knows the family.

"His relationship to that family ... is part of the investigation," she said.

Coe's home on Brookwood Avenue is about 4 miles from the girl's house.

He was previously convicted of assault on a female, breaking and entering, larceny and other charges, according to state Department of Correction records.

Investigators focused on Coe as a suspect in Shaniya's disappearance early on and questioned him Tuesday and Wednesday, Chance said.

Antoinette Davis also was questioned for much of Tuesday and Wednesday, and Shaniya's father flew in from out of state Tuesday afternoon and also spoke with investigators.

"We're dealing with getting very differing stories constantly, so we're trying to piece together the truth and what was going on at the time," Chance said.

Coe showed little emotion during a brief court appearance Thursday afternoon.

"I'm not guilty, sir. That's all I've got to say about it," he told District Judge Tal Bagette.

She confirmed that police pulled a blanket from a garbage can near the Davis house that they believe belongs to Shaniya. She wouldn't discuss how the evidence fits in to the investigation.

Police dogs searched the neighborhood and some nearby woods late Tuesday and didn't pick up Shaniya's scent. Investigators said the dogs would have picked up her trail if she had been walking around the area, prompting them to suspect foul play in the case.

Heavy rains since late Tuesday have hindered further search efforts.

"There's a lot of information we're following up on," Chance said. "We have a lot of people calling now, giving us tips and leads. We're re-interviewing people at the mobile home park that we talked to previously."

Shaniya is described as 3 feet tall and 40 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt with pink underwear. She is thin and has a scar on her foot.

Coe was being held Thursday in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 2.

SANFORD (NEWS CENTER) -- State and Sanford Police are issuing an Amber Alert for a missing two year old girl who was taken by her father this morning in Sanford after what investigators call a violent assault of the girl's mother.

Authorities are looking for Gary Traynham, 38, and his two year old daughter Hailey.

Authorities say the two may be in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire this afternoon.

Traynham is driving a 1998 green Dodge 1500 pickup truck with Maine registration 8629 NB.

He is described as 5'11", 230 pounds with balding brown hair, hazel eyes and a dark goatee. The girl has shoulder length blond hair, blue eyes and weighs between 35 and 50 pounds.

Leon is driving a black four-door Dodge Intrepid with California license plates 4LQY818, according to police.

David Lohr being "let go" by the Discovery Channel, We have to stop this!

OK You know me, when I get on my soapbox I don't hold back. The injustice this time is the laying off of David Lohr from Investigation Discovery. David writes for the Criminal Report Daily, an in depth look at missing person's cases as well as murders.

The Author description says that " David Lohr has been writing about crime and criminals for over 15 years. Readers and critics alike regard Mr. Lohr as one of the most prominent crime writers of the 21st century." and yet he was one of about 30 who were given pink slips the other day.

In 2008 David left CourtTV/TruTV to join the Discovery Channels new network ID Investigation Discovery where he heads up the Criminal Report. As a major advocate for the missing and murdered he brings their stories to the forefront and gives them names and voices.

David has also put his time and money where his mouth is by going on searches as well as putting up his own money for Rewards. He is more than an extremely talented journalist he is a humanitarian with a huge heart. He truly cares for the people who are missing and the families left behind. To him it doesn't matter if the person went missing this morning or 15 years ago, if he can help he will!

He has done many articles on cold cases that never had any publicity. He doesn't look for the most high profile cases. He believes they are all important no matter the situation or economic status of the family, Missing is Missing.

Without David at ID the hopes and dreams of the families that their loved one can be found and brought home because of what he wrote will be extinguished.

There have been several articles about David and the others losing their job.

Dana Williams at AC (Associated Content) wrote: "David was the linch-pin of the Investigation Discovery site. He is an outstanding journalist, and to do this to him boggles my mind," Simon (at BNN) wrote. "David Lohr is one of the great advocates for missing children, his work on the Caylee Anthony search is a case in point. Unbiased, objective, and always probing, his articles on the case were the ones that people read first."

Michelle McKee of "In Cold Blog" also wrote: " While it is not the first shake up to go down at Discovery, this one is a major one, and it seems counterproductive to Discovery’s goals to get rid of a journalist and investigative reporter of Lohr’s caliber. Advertising revenue will be lost if the blog goes down, David’s large fan base will look elsewhere to find their information and, most importantly, the families of those with missing loved ones will have lost an important venue with integrity and credibility from where they can reach out to others."

In an effort to try and stop this travesty a Facebook cause was set up called Save Discovery Channel Programming and Jobs. It is a protest aimed at showing Discovery Channel what an unbelievable mistake they are making.

At a news conference Monday afternoon Washington County Sheriff Bobby Haddock said that they have a person of interest in the case of missing 7-month-old Shannon Lea Dedrick. They would not release the name of the potential suspect or any further details.

For the first time we also now know that the last time Shannon was seen she was in her parents’ bedroom when they went to sleep Saturday. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says she went missing some time between 3:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Her parents reported her missing around 11:30 a.m.

Immediately following the report the Sheriff’s Office says 1300 calls to residents in the area were made. On Sunday night, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement put out a Missing Child Alert.

The Sheriff’s Office is searching the wooded area near Shannon’s home at 793C Brown Street in Chipley. Many other agencies are assisiting in the search including Bay, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson and Liberty County Sheriff’s Offices as well as police departments for Graceville and Chipley.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse was searching the area Monday afternoon.

Clay County Deputies Say Girl Never Came Home From School

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- Clay County sheriff's deputies are searching an Orange Park neighborhood for a girl who they said has been missing since Monday afternoon.

Deputies said 7-year-old Somer Renee Thompson was last seen in the Grove Park neighborhood.

They said the girl's mother called police and said her daughter never returned home from school.

She is described as 3 feet, 5 inches tall and 65 pounds with brown hair in a pony tail. She was last seen wearing a cranberry-colored jumpsuit with pink striped sleeves. She also had a black, pink and white colored backpack with a skull and hearts.

Deputies said the girl was last seen at 2:45 p.m. walking home from Grove Park Elementary School near West Gano Avenue and Debarry Avenue with her sister and friends but separated from them after an argument and ran toward her home.

Deputies said the girl's mother was outside in the neighborhood looking for the child when she flagged down a passing deputy and reported the incident.

The family lives in the 1700 block of Horton Drive in Orange Park.

"We would ask that the public assist us in providing any information that anyone may have about this little girl's whereabouts," Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler said.

"Anyone that's in this vicinity, please be vigilant, be looking, search around the area and call us if you saw anything."

Beseler said deputies are contacting the 53 sexual offenders who live in the area as part of their investigation.

More than 100 deputies, police and SWAT members were searching for the girl Monday night.

*** I have read several articles saying different things. One said she was walking home and when she hadn't arrived by 6:45 the mother called Police. Another said she was walking home with her sister and friends and ran ahead and vanished. A 3rd said she was walking with her brother and friends. Also 2 said the mother was out looking for her and flagged down a police car 2 hrs after Somer was late. Something isn't right here.***

An Amber Alert was issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety on Friday evening for 3-year-old Mitchell Romero who went missing on October 15 at 6:05 p.m. in Denver City, Texas.

Denver City is near the New Mexico-Texas state line, about 30 miles east of the New Mexico town of Lovington.

Police are looking for 34-year-old Mario Romero, described as a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, 5'7" and 205 pounds.

He is believed to be driving a maroon 2004 GMC Yukon with Texas license plate 43WFX6.

The University of Virginia Police Department Is Seeking Assistance from the Public in Locating a Missing Person

The University of Virginia Police Department is seeking information that would help locate a missing person. Morgan Dana Harrington, a 20 year old student from Virginia Tech, was last seen on October 17, 2009 near the John Paul Jones Arena.

Morgan was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with the tan letters that spelled “Pantera” across the front, a black mini skirt with black tights and knee high black boots.

She has long blond hair and blue eyes. Morgan is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 120 lbs.

The State of Pennsylvanian issued the Amber Alert Thursday (10-08) after the boy was reportedly abducted by the suspect in Williamsport.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

A'dryn Allen Drummond an 18 month old Black male, 2' 6" tall weighing 29 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans a horizontal striped navy blue and light blue shirt and grey hooded sweatshirt with dark blue stripes on the sleeves.

The suspect is Johnnie Alexander Drummond III, a 27 year old Black male, 5' 8" weighong 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black sneakers, dark blue jeans and a black shiny winter jacket with an orange interior lining.

The suspect vehicle is a black Mercury Mariner with Pennsylvania tag number FPM3019.

It’s been awhile for a post because unfortunately there has been no new information on Dylan. It will be 1 year since Dylan’s disappearance in a few days, and we will all be in Edmonton again, putting up flyers, and trying to talk to media. On Sunday we will be holding a candlelight vigil where Dylan went missing

Again I would like to state that for all those who know and love Dylan that there is still hope. Time seems to make our brains think and feel the worst, but the reality is that we just don’t know what happened to him on Oct 11/08. No one can convince me otherwise until we find him, or there is sufficient proof. By saying this, there is no one to blame either. I still feel that there is someone out there that seen him, no matter what angle you look at it from… It’s just that they may be unaware that he is missing, or something was wrong.

I remember the last few times I saw Dylan, we were laughing, goofing around. We got opinionated, and grumpy. He used to give me a half hugs and patted me on the back, which pissed me off… but he held his hugs hostage until he wanted something, then I couldn’t get him off me until I gave in. Like anyone he had his strong points that I respected, and he was also annoying (purposely to bug me). I miss that. I miss him.

Whether Dylan is still alive, or he met with foul play, or even if an accident happened, someone out there has the key of information that will end the suffering of his loved ones, and even Dylan himself. I just want to be able to hug him, or to be able to bury him properly. Either way it’s a better situation than not knowing. I would like to ask for everyone to resend the video/poster/cause to your friends or say a prayer for him this thanksgiving weekend. It all helps.

Last but not least, I would like to thank everyone who has helped in this cause. Be it friend, family, or a stranger that just wants to help. THANK YOU! It means a great deal that this cause has reached so many people. We just need to get his face to that someone who can break this case wide open.

Convicted child killer Couey dies in prison, Florida officials say

(CNN) -- A Florida death-row inmate convicted of abducting and murdering 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford in 2005 has died, prison officials said Wednesday.

John Evander Couey, 51, died at 11:15 a.m. ET of natural causes, a Florida Department of Corrections spokeswoman told CNN. He had been taken to a Jacksonville, Florida, hospital from Florida State Prison in Starke, Florida.

Because of privacy laws, no further information could be released by the Department of Corrections.

A source close to the case told CNN that Couey's death was not unexpected and he had been ill for some time.

Couey was sentenced to die in August 2007 for abducting and raping Lunsford, then killing her by burying her alive. The girl was snatched from her bed in her family's Homosassa, Florida, home the evening of February 23, 2005, by Couey, a registered sex offender. Her body was found three weeks later, buried at the home of Couey's half-sister, who lived within sight of the Lunsford home. The girl's body was wrapped in plastic garbage bags, and her hands were bound with speaker wire. She was clutching a stuffed dolphin -- a toy won for her at a state fair by her father, and which Couey allowed her to bring with her when she was abducted.

Authorities believe Lunsford was kept for several days before she was killed. Her blood was found on a mattress in the home where Couey was living, her fingerprints also were discovered at the location. During the search for the girl, as authorities and hundreds of volunteers combed Citrus County, north of Tampa, police twice visited that home. "Couey's timeline after he kidnapped Jessica Lunsford leaves open the possibility that she was alive, and in the house, at the time of the first and possibly the second interview," according to a prosecution memo in the case. In sentencing Couey, Judge Ric Howard noted Couey became fearful of police dogs being used in the area in the search for the girl.

He told Lunsford he was planning to take her home, but did not want her to be seen, and so persuaded her to get into a trash bag. He then knotted another trash bag over her head, placed her in a hole and shoveled dirt on top of her. Jurors convicted Couey of first-degree murder, kidnapping and sexual battery on a child under 12 in March 2007.

Howard, at Couey's sentencing, brought many in the courtroom to tears as he discussed how the girl died slowly as her oxygen ran out. A medical examiner testified she could have been alive as much as five minutes, or even longer, before she lost consciousness, Howard said. "He caused a slow, suffering, conscious death," Howard said of Couey. "Her only source of comfort during this horrific experience was her purple dolphin." Another horrific detail the judge noted: The girl was able to poke several fingers through the innermost trash bag covering her before she died.

The judge also noted that Couey made "crude, vulgar and repulsive" comments to police after his arrest regarding his sexual assault of the girl, and the judge quoted Couey as saying the media was blowing the case out of proportion -- "This kind of thing happens every day."

Lunsford's slaying sparked national outrage and led to stricter Florida laws regarding registration and supervision of released sexual predators, following a push led largely by her father, Mark Lunsford.

Although Lunsford's death was one of several that contributed to the passage of a federal child-protection law dealing with sex offender registration and other matters related to child sex offenses, Mark Lunsford said at the time of Couey's sentencing the law does not go far enough.

In a jailhouse phone call before his sentencing, Couey told a woman described as his aunt he expected the death penalty. "I kick myself in the butt a hundred times a day," he said.

"Stupidity ... Just trying to figure out, I'm just asking myself, 'Why was you so stupid?' " "Well, none of us are perfect," the woman said, "and the drugs didn't help any." "No, that was a big problem," Couey said. "Drugs, alcohol." Speaking after Couey's sentencing, Mark Lunsford referenced Couey's earlier comments in which he said that when he got to heaven, he would apologize to his victim.

"I have bad news," Mark Lunsford said. "I don't think you're going to make it there." He called on Couey to drop his appeals.

"You want to do something for her, give your life for the one you took."

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is asking for help in identifying a woman who dropped off a letter earlier this week with a tip about the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings.

The woman took the letter to the St. Augustine Record Wednesday afternoon. Addressed to the newspaper's associate editor, the typed letter had information about the child, who disappeared from her father's Satsuma home in February.

The newspaper provided the letter to officers who have been following up the information. "Unfortunately the detectives need further clarification of the information and are hoping that someone will recognize the woman that delivered it," according to a statement from the Sheriff's Office.

The newspaper describes the woman as a "blonde woman, wearing blue scrubs," who dropped the envelope off at 3 p.m., "then quickly left the building."

The Sheriff's Office would not release the letter's contents. But, it reported, "if the information is true, it could be very helpful in solving the Haleigh Cummings case."

Anyone with information about the woman is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477 or the Sheriff's Office at 386-329-0808.

BOISE, Idaho – An Amber Alert has been issued on a possible parental kidnapping in Boise.

A male suspect knocked on the apartment door and asked to see Luca Principali because his mother wanted to see him. The victim's sister heard a scream and when she looked out the victim was gone.

Suspects were possibly driving a silver 2009 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with the California plate 6GQC981 when the abduction occurred. A person of interest in this case is Ekatrina Principali, also known as Moryakova.

SAN DIEGO – A 4-year-old Ohio girl who was the subject of a nationwide search was found safe in Valley Center Tuesday, and her mother and the mother's boyfriend were arrested, authorities said.

Sheriff's deputies, acting on a tip, arrested wanted sex offender Robbi Potter, 27, and his girlfriend Candace Watson, 24, about 3 p.m. at a Christian retreat on Keys Creek Road, authorities said.

The couple had been on the run with Watson's daughter, Haylee Donathan, for the past month.

According to the U.S. Marshal's Service, Potter had recently been released from prison after serving time for sexual battery on a minor and was not allowed to be around children. He was living at a halfway house until he walked away on May 30 and disappeared with Watson and Haylee.

On Tuesday afternoon, a resident at the retreat and rehabilitation center, Morning Star Ranch, was driving in the Los Angeles area and saw a billboard with photos of the missing girl and the fugitives, said Deputy U.S. Marshal Omar Castillo. He immediately recognized them from the ranch, as well as the photo of their pickup truck.

He called the ranch's manager, and the manager verified the photos and license plate. He then called 911 and deputies found the family shortly after.

Haylee seemed to be in good spirits, although she appeared to have suffered a possible light case of the chicken pox, Castillo said. She will be handed over to her grandmother.

Castillo said the family had been staying at the ranch for about a week, and may have even visited the Wild Animal Park three days ago, according to another tipster who called authorities.

The father of a Long Island toddler who went missing more than five decades ago says he has reason to believe the man now claiming to be his long-lost son actually is Steven Craig Damman.

"It probably is him," Jerry Damman told Newsday when reached at his farm in Newton, Iowa, on Tuesday.

"[I'm] not a hundred percent sure," he said. "But there's good reason to believe it might be."

Nassau County Police Department spokesman Det. Lt. Kevin Smith told Newsday that in March, a Michigan man contacted Nassau detectives claiming to be Steven Damman, whose unsolved missing persons case may be the oldest in Long Island history.

Steven was a toddler when he disappeared on Halloween 1955 after his mother left him and his infant sister outside an East Meadow supermarket. The girl was found unharmed in a stroller not far from the scene and the boy was presumed kidnapped.

After the man claiming to be Damman came forward, Smith said, Nassau police referred the case to the Federal Bureau of Investigation field office in Detroit.

A law enforcement source told Newsday the man, whose name has not been released, had previously contacted a woman he believed to be his biological sister, Pamela.

On Tuesday, Jerry Damman confirmed the scenario, though it remained unclear how the man was able to find the woman - or why he elected to track down her instead of another family member.

"This guy never felt he was part of the family he was with," the source said. "[He] started looking into adoption or missing persons cases - and narrowed in on this one."

The source said the FBI is awaiting results of its own DNA test, being conducted at the FBI lab in Quantico, Va.

The story, citing an unnamed source, was first reported in the Daily News Tuesday.

A spokeswoman for the FBI office in Detroit said the bureau would not confirm or deny specifics - including if there is an ongoing investigation in the Damman case.

"The FBI follows up on all leads," Special Agent Sandra Berchtold said Tuesday.

Steven Craig Damman was just a toddler - 2 years, 10 months old - when his mother told Nassau County Police he was taken from in front of a Food Fair supermarket on Front Street in East Meadow between 2 and 3 p.m. on Halloween day, 1955.

A story about the alleged abduction in the Nov. 1, 1995, edition of Newsday reported that the mother, Marilyn Damman, told police she had left her son outside the market standing alongside a stroller holding her daughter, Pamela, then 7 months old.

The then 22-year-old mother said she was inside the store for "about 10 minutes." When she exited, Damman told police, her son, her daughter and the stroller were gone.

"I don't think he knows where the brake is," Marilyn told Newsday not long after the alleged kidnapping, explaining that she did not think her toddler son could have moved the carriage.

"He never wanders," she said. "He's kind of a momma's boy."

A neighbor found the stroller - and baby Pamela - a few blocks from the scene and not far from the Damman home on Mitchel Avenue. Steven was never found and officials could never determine why Pamela was left behind, unharmed.

A follow-up story in Newsday that came with a blaring front-page headline reading "Fear Missing Boy Kidnapped" reported that more than 5,000 volunteers had searched for Steven in what police called "the most-intensive street-by-street search in the history of Nassau County." Other stories reported officials had launched "a nationwide hunt" for "six persons" whom a witness had seen "pick up the boy" in front of the supermarket.

The details of the story never panned out.

The search involved many U.S. airmen, as well.

Jerry Damman, now 78, was then a 25-year-old airman stationed at Mitchel Field.

Months after the disappearance both Jerry and Marilyn Damman returned to Iowa, which the couple called home.

They were later divorced. That was in 1957, about the same time police in Philadelphia found the body of a young boy buried in a cardboard box along Susquehanna Road in the Fox Chase section of suburban northeast Philadelphia.

For a time it appeared the boy in the infamous "Boy in the Box" case would be identified as Steven Craig Damman.

But Nassau Police Insp. James Farrell went to Philadelphia to see the body in 1957 - and said then it was not Damman. Jerry Damman confirmed Tuesday that his daughter, Pamela, supplied DNA to Philadelphia police in 2003 - and those tests confirmed again that the "Boy in the Box" was not Steven.

The case has been the subject of a wide-range of Internet sites highlighting the cases of missing and kidnapped children, among them: The Doe Network, For the Lost, The Charley Project, Remember the Innocents, Websleuths and America's Unknown Child.

"I've been somewhat aware [of the developments] for some time," Damman told Newsday. "After that many years, you don't know what to think. It's very difficult . . . It's just something that stays with you."

In his interview, Damman repeatedly apologized for not being able to elaborate about what he might know about the pending identification of the man who could be the son he hasn't seen since that day back in 1955.

Damman said he has tried to contact the man who would be his son but has so far been unsuccessful. He said he is anxiously awaiting confirmation of the man's true identity.

"The one thing I would really like to find out," Damman said, "is what actually happened . . . I still don't know the answer to that question. I know nothing, really - other than this might be him."

In June 2009 Lynn and Danny's family are planning a candle light vigil for Danny. This will mark the 50th anniversary of his disappearance in 1959.

It seems with all the new publicity Danny's story has received recently, there has been a lot of confusion as to the location of the campsite. Yes, this was a family camping trip, but this was not a public camping area. This was not a state park or anything of the like. This was a private lot on private property. This area was very remote back in 1959. The family's beach site could not be seen from the road because it was a wooded area.

We appreciate opinions and ideas, but wish they would not be put into public statements without prior approval from the family. Danny's disappearance is a very sensitive issue to us, as well as, an ongoing and open investigation. We understand there are many who only wish to help and we are very grateful. Those who show interest only for selfish intentions are not desired. We take our missing loved one very seriously and do not have time for malicious ambitions.

We only want to find our brother and live our lives in peace. We respect and appreciate everything that the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, the Mobile FBI, and the media has done for us over the years. Without them, we would not have gotten this far. The late Sheriff Taylor Wilkins of Baldwin County was very devoted to finding Danny and spent 3 nights in his car after the search was called off. He wanted to make sure Danny was not alone if he wandered back to the site.

Sheriff Wilkins never forgot Danny, even after his retirement.

Our hopes for the vigil on June 20th is to bring together our family, friends and community to help remember Danny and promote awareness, not only for Danny's disappearance, but other missing persons as well.

The missing of a loved one is one of the hardest ordeals a family could endure, especially when the victim is a child. We strongly believe that someone out there knows what happened to Danny and possibly knows him as another identity.

ESCONDIDO — It will be four months tomorrow since 14-year-old Amber Dubois went missing while walking to school in Escondido, and a search center established shortly after she disappeared is closing down.

Every weekend volunteers have been scouring nearby hills for any sign of the teen, without success. The number of volunteers has dwindled to a point that only about 20 people have been showing up to help.

Amber's mother, Carrie McGonigle, said that the center will close this weekend and that future search efforts will concentrate on distributing fliers in Riverside and Orange counties. “Most people know about Amber in San Diego,” she said.

“But nobody knows about her further north.” The search center, at 755 N. Quince St. in Escondido, will be the site of a candlelight vigil from 1 to 4 p.m. tomorrow, culminating in the release of balloons at 4 p.m. McGonigle said she still harbors hope.

“I still feel she's alive and I still feel she's nearby,” she said.

“We just have to find where.” Police say they have followed up on about 900 tips, including false sightings of the teen, without anything concrete being found.

An examination of Amber's Internet activity so far has shown only that she visited sites that any normal 14-year-old girl would, Escondido Police Lt. Bob Benton said. Some records still have not been obtained because the Web site operators are based outside the United States. The FBI has been helping with the Internet side of the investigation.

Amber's cell phone has not been used since the day after she disappeared, when someone in northern Escondido tried to access her voice mail for about 20 seconds but gave up after realizing the password had been changed. Her parents had it changed when she didn't come home so they could listen to any messages that might have been left for her.

It now appears that a burgundy pickup truck seen on surveillance videotape of a school bus maintenance yard near Escondido High School about the same time that Amber disappeared is not the same pickup spotted in another case. San Diego police are searching for a similar pickup in connection with the molestation of two young girls at two Wal-Mart stores in April and May.

But Benton said the trucks appear to be different.

Police still classify Amber as a missing juvenile, saying there isn't enough information to say definitively whether she was abducted or ran away.

Nationally known missing children's advocate Marc Klaas will attend the vigil, McGonigle said. Anyone with information about Amber's whereabouts is asked to call (760) 743-TIPS (8477).

Balto. Co. police continue to seek convicted child rapist

Baltimore County police said Tuesday they continue to seek information on the whereabouts of a man convicted in October of sexual child abuse and second-degree rape of a juvenile.

Police have issued a warrant for Charles A. Kingery, 61, formerly of the Parkville area.

Kingery did not appear for his sentencing hearing in February, police said.

The crimes he was convicted of were committed between 1973 and 1975, according to court records.

Police described Kingery as white, about 6 feet tall, weighing 260 pounds, with gray hair and possibly a gray beard.

Anyone with information about Kingery is urged to call county police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCKUP.

Sexual offender Robbi Potter accused of taking 3-year-old girl from Crawford County

Crestline police issued a statewide missing child alert last night as they searched for a sexual offender who is traveling with a 3-year-old girl and her mother. Robbi Douglas Potter, 27, Candace Watson, 24, and Haylee Donathan were last seen May 28. As a condition of Potter's parole, he is barred from being with children. Watson is with him willingly.

Potter, convicted of sexual battery of a minor, was recently released from prison and is on parole. He was living at a halfway house in Richland. He may have driven the mother and child to a campground in his dark-colored 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck with expired temporary tag Q 645 916. He has also used Ohio plates CKX 6248 and EKB 3855.

Potter has tattoos of a dreamcatcher and angel on his right arm and a cross, angel, clouds and "Naomi" on his left arm.

Madison mom frantic about missing baby

MADISON -- The mother of a missing baby said that the teen who took her child "wanted a baby real bad.""She was going around saying she was pregnant, but she's not," said Makeela King, 16.But, King said that she trusted the woman who took the baby."I didn't think she'd do nothing like this," said King.

Police in Illinois are asking for the public's help in tracking down the teen -- Danielle Medina, 17 -- who is believed to have taken King's baby -- Cortez L. Rose.

Madison Police Chief Steven Shelby said Medina is a “transient,” and came to the Metro East from the New York City area.“It’s possible she may be on the run from maybe some charges up in New York City,” said Shelby.

Police said Medina was left to babysit the boy in the 1500 block of 5th Street in Madison. They say Medina then left the house with the baby without his parents' permission. Baby Cortez lives at the home.

Now, police believe the child could be in danger.

The mother went shopping in East St. Louis, according to police. Medina, the babysitter, was also living at the home, police said.

Cortez is an African-American baby boy who weighs about 20 pounds. He has birthmarks on his right arm near his shoulder and one on his right ankle. He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt.

Medina is described as an African-American who is about 5-foot tall, weighing about 120 pounds. She was last seen wearing an orange-and-black weave, black leggings and a long brown t-shirt.

Medina was carrying a large gray purse and pushing Cortez in a brown and tan stroller.Shelby said he knows of no quarrel between Medina and the boy’s parents.“It’s just kind of strange she hasn’t made contact with anybody.

She knows the number she has been staying at the house for maybe two or three months now,” Shelby said. Shelby said there was a delay in asking the public’s help because the family waited until Sunday to report the incident -- and he thought Medina might return.

“I thought there might be some confusion,” Shelby said. Medina doesn’t have a cell phone, according to police.

None of us asked for this job. What person in their right mind would want to feel the pain and loss we each feel. The grief when someone is found dead. The tearing of our hearts when the person is found but not in the same condition they left in. We can't only feel joy of a person being found and returned to their family.

It is all connected.

The sleepless nights wondering where someone is or trying to understand how another human being could kill an innocent person. Answers that we will never get no matter how much we want them. The hours searching for updates on a case. The scrapes and blisters from searching the woods all day. The anxiety over did we do everything we could or did we miss something. The blurry eyes and headaches from researching all hours of the night and lack of sleep.

The frustration when we don't feel like we are getting anywhere or helping enough. The darkest time of night when we ask why am I doing this, it isn't even my family. The missed appointments and school plays lost because we were talking to a person who's family member is missing and comforting them.

None of us want this. We do this not for a pat on the back or 15 minutes on TV, we do this for all the people who can't. Yes it's very hard, yes it can be more painful than you can imagine. But all that can't compare to the feeling you get when you help bring a person home.

The day you don't feel anything when you hear a person was hurt or killed needlessly is the day you should walk away.

We are a unique group of people who are drawn to each other. Complete strangers who have a common bond, helping the helpless. We support each other and give words of comfort or encouragement. We keep each other going because deep down we understand when others don't. Like I said before none of us want this...

Monroe -- Monroe County Sheriff's Department investigators on Thursday found a child's body west of Monroe that may be the body of the missing 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan. Police cordoned off an area near the River Raisin around Dixon Road in the area of Ida-Maybee and Neiman roads. Evidence experts were preparing late Thursday to examine a body that searchers discovered that had clothing similar to what Nevaeh was wearing when she disappeared from her Monroe home on May 24, a person familiar with the investigation said.

Sheriff's department and FBI officials would not confirm they had found the child's body.

No positive identification of the body had been made by early Thursday evening. Nevaeh's uncle, Michael Buchanan, told The Detroit News: "The police just informed us, 'If you hear something from us again, it'll be positive,' (meaning there's a body)." If the body is the missing child, it will mark a tragic end to the search in an investigation that has focused, in part, on friends of the girl's mother who have criminal records for sexual offenses.

Nobody has been charged in the case.

Earlier Thursday, a 64-year-old man, who a district judge said has been cleared as a person of interest in the girl's disappearance, said he was held by interrogators for 12 hours, answering questions such as "How do you think they did it?" James Easter said he made a mistake by answering that question outright, claiming that if he was the one who had abducted Nevaeh on May 24, he would have "took my vehicle behind the nail salon nearby and called to her with a Kit Kat." "When you're an innocent man, they keep telling you this and that," Easter said. "All I could keep telling them is, 'I didn't do it.' "

Easter was arrested over the weekend on unrelated arson charges, and he was released on $250 bail after his arraignment Monday. District Court Judge Jack Vitale said the county prosecutor and county sheriff had cleared Easter from Nevaeh's case, but the Monroe County Sheriff's Office says they continue to look at every possible scenario and wouldn't comment on any potential people of interest.

Monroe County Sheriff's Maj. Dan Motylinski said the department would not comment on any claims made by Easter. Easter said he learned of Nevaeh's disappearance when he was called by a girlfriend who lives at the Charlotte Arms Apartments, where the girl had disappeared while playing alone in the parking lot.

His girlfriend said she needed a ride to the store, saying the apartment complex was abuzz over the missing girl, he said. "I had a hard time thinking in my head," Easter said of the questioning. He told authorities he had been at Kmart that night. He said investigators tried to pin him down, acting like Nevaeh was at the store with her mother that day. "They kept telling me, 'You followed her out of Kmart,' " Easter said.

Easter said investigators took DVDs, personal photos and other possessions, leaving his home a mess Friday. Authorities returned Sunday, digging up his backyard. Easter is one of three people of interest made public in Nevaeh's case. George Kennedy and Roy Smith, both sex offenders who knew Nevaeh's mother, are being held on possible parole violations.

Investigators are offering a $20,000 reward for information that could lead to finding Nevaeh.

In an interview with the Toledo Blade on Wednesday from the Monroe County Jail, Kennedy also said he didn't take Nevaeh and began searching for her after learning of her disappearance. Kennedy told the Blade that blood police found in his motel room came from cutting himself shaving and from his girlfriend after she got a tattoo. Human blood found on a multitool, he said, came from a fishing accident. The sheriff's office has said none of the blood is Nevaeh's.

Meanwhile, the task force also is searching for two minivans, one green box-style and the other silver, that were parked at the Hollywood Elementary School when Nevaeh disappeared. The silver minivan was likely driven by a mother who was with her two small children.

A 6yo Child Kidnapped in Colorado, May be Headed to Mexico.

For many of us the title of a news story is what gets our attention. It draws us in especially when it is a Missing Child. We quickly read the details on what happened to this poor baby, wonder why it happened and how we can help. Don't worry there is a child missing and I will be going into details shortly.

But there is a catch.

What if it is a parental abduction? Our minds click into a different gear. No one person's mind works the same as another. We may think "Well it's the child's parent,what's the big deal?" or " Unless the parent will endanger the child why should I care?" I posed this question to my 3 children (All teenagers) and got three different answers. Only 1 said it didn't matter if it is the parent, kidnapped is kidnapped.

This is the story of a beautiful little girl named Mystic Dawn Salazar. A sweet, playful 6 year old little girl ripped from her family by a man she didn't know. This isn't your usual parental abduction. The details are startling and the fact it is her biological father doesn't make it less serious.

Her mother Jenn posted this letter online and it sums it up better than I ever could. Here is an excerpt:

Today marks 6 months since I last held my 6 year old daughter in my arms. At 9:58am on Sunday August 17, 2008, I pried her little hands off of me and placed her in the arms of her biological father whom she had just been introduced to April 19, 2008. He began to walk away with my little girl in his arms as she was crying, she yelled at me, "Mommy, can I have a hug?" Enrique stopped long enough for me to give Mystic one last hug and tell her I loved her and would see her at 5:30pm. He walked away and never came back with her. When I went to pick her up after her visit, I sat and waited until 7:55pm before coming back home where I had to face my other 4 children and my husband and tell them that Mystic was not coming home and I did not know where she was. In that moment when I told them their sister was not coming home, their world was flipped upside down and their hearts were broken.

Mystic was at the center of an ugly and complicated custody case at the time of the abduction. July 16, 2008 during a telephone status conference in our parental responsibilities case, it was agreed that we (Jennifer Davis and Amie Salazar) would have joint decision making with Enrique Arreola-Lopez and that Mystic would be attending school here in Mesa County. Unfortunately, this order was not signed by the judge. It is stamped with the District Courts of Arapahoe County Seal and is filed with our case. It is a standing order in the case and it boils down to my husband and I having joint "custody" with Enrique, yet our local law enforcement does not recognize this as a "COURT ORDER" and claim there has been no crime committed. We have been told that since Enrique Lopez is the biological father of Mystic, he has every right to have her with him and that there is nothing they can do.

We were granted a WRIT OF HABEAS CORPUS AND WRIT OF ASSISTANCE granting Jennifer Davis and Amie Salazar TEMPORARY SOLE LEGAL AND PHYSICAL CUSTODY as well as authorizing and requesting ALL law enforcement within and without the state of Colorado to assist in locating and returning Mystic to our custody. Again, local law enforcement will not recognize this order as being a viable order as Enrique has not been served with it. We have tried to serve him with the order. My husband and brother were in Denver and attempted to serve the orders to Enrique at his last known address, last known employer, his brother & sisters apartment, his wife's last known employer and his in-laws address. How are we supposed to serve these orders on a person who is in hiding?

How many of us watch the evening news and see a Missing Child or Adult Alert.

OK everyone.

Our hearts go out to the families and we hope for a happy ending. If it isn't resolved quickly we then start ripping apart the family of the poor missing person. "How could they let a child that age out of their sight?" or "They knew the person has mental problems why didn't they take away their keys?" Yeah hind sight is 20/20 but let's get real here. What if this were your family, would hind sight be anything to you now? Is it helpful?

Everyone thinks well this will never happen to me or my family, you couldn't be more wrong.

Every 41 seconds someone in this country is abducted. Maybe it was your neighbour taking their son/daughter because they don't have custody, your sister went to the store to get smokes and never came home because her ex grabbed her off the street and drove away, your brother stopped on the freeway to help a fellow driver with car trouble and now his car sits abandoned, someone came in the window and took your child while you were reading this post. It CAN happen to anyone, even you!

What have you done today to prepare for it? Family ID/DNA kits are one thing you can control in this world. Many organizations offer free ID kits you can send for or print out. I personally have instructions on how to make my own at home out of regular household items. And in this economy the make your own DNA kits are priceless.

No, none of my family has gone missing or been abducted so you ask why do i care? Because I know it can happen! And God forbid it does I have the important information I need ready. I thank God everyday I have my family and then I pray for those who don't.

Don't wait for this to happen to you, because it can. Talk to your family about safety.

Set up secret words for when someone other than you picks your child up from school or playground.

Explain about wrong touching and when to tell someone.

Look up Sex Offenders in your neighbourhood, know their faces and addresses. Make sure your child stays away.

If you can't meet or take your child to the bus stop set up a buddy system with another parent you know and trust to watch your child and do the same for them.

Make ID/DNA Kits and keep them updated. Share the instructions with other parents, teachers and the community.

AMBER Alert Issued for 2 Year Old Colorado Boy

The State of Colorado issued the Amber Alert early Saturday morning (05-23) after the boy's parents failed to show up for a court appearance in Colorado Springs on Thursday.

Custody of the boy was transferred to the state of Colorado due to allegations of child abuse.

The boy requires medical attention due to sever burns he suffered in April to his hands.

Police believe the suspects may be headed to Mexico with the boy.

Emanuel Guzman a 2 year old Hispanic male, 2', 30 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.

There are two suspects.

Carmen Aguilera is a 30 year old Hispanic female, 5' 6", 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Benito Guzman is a 29 year old Hispanic male, 5' 8", 180 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and has a mustache.

There are two possible suspect vehicles, a tan 2004 Ford pickup with Colorado tag number 491-SKZ or a brown 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Colorado tag number 781-SLH.

STOCKTON - Prosecutors on Thursday filed three additional felony counts against Melissa Huckaby, charging her with poisoning two people, including a 7-year-old girl and an adult man.

The girl lived in the same Tracy mobile home park as the slain Sandra Cantu. Huckaby, 28, is expected to appear in San Joaquin County Superior Court today for further arraignment on previous charges that she kidnapped, raped and murdered 8-year-old Sandra on March 27 before dumping the girl's body in an irrigation pond north of Tracy.

Huckaby's attorney, Sam Behar, was expected to enter a plea on his client's behalf at today's hearing, but the new charges could lead to a change in the defense strategy.

The new complaint charges Huckaby with a single count of child endangerment and two felony counts of furnishing a harmful substance, which is not identified in the document. In both counts of alleged poisoning, the complaint says Huckaby "did willfully and unlawfully mingle a harmful substance with food or drink with the intent that (it) be taken by a human being."

The complaint charges Huckaby with poisoning the 7-year-old girl, identified only as Jane M. Doe, on Jan. 17, the same day a woman in the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park - where both Sandra and Huckaby lived - reported to Tracy police that Huckaby returned her daughter drugged with a muscle relaxant.

Tracy police fell under scrutiny for failing to thoroughly investigate the report.

Rather, detectives reportedly accused the girl's mother of giving her daughter the pills and ended their investigation.

The girl recovered from the poisoning.

In the second poisoning charge, Huckaby allegedly drugged a man identified as Daniel Plowman on March 2 - 21/2 months after the first alleged poisoning and 25 days before Sandra was reported missing. Her body was found April 6.

Plowman's relationship with Huckaby is unclear, and his whereabouts are unknown. He could not be located for comment Thursday.

The complaint doesn't give his age or any details of the alleged poisoning.

A judge's gag order prevents attorneys, investigators and potential witnesses from talking to the media.

Huckaby is scheduled to appear before San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge Linda Lofthus at 1 p.m. today.

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -- Deputies are looking for a mother and son after the state was planning to take the 555-pound 14-year-old into protective custody, according to Greenville County deputies.

Alexander Draper is considered to be at a critical stage of health risk. When officers went to take the boy from the home, they found that he and his mother, Jerri Gray, had left the home on Goodwin Bridge Road in Travelers Rest.

According to the Department of Social Services, Gray was supposed to appear in family court with the boy on Tuesday, but they did not show up. At the hearing, Alexander was ordered into the custody of the state due to medical neglect and Gray's failure to appear in court.

Investigators said that the mother and son's whereabouts are unknown to family members.

Deputies said the mother and son are possibly traveling in a 1996 Chevrolet van, model 1500, white with burgundy stripes, with the South Carolina tag number AQZ 566.

There is a warrant for Gray's arrest on a violation of custody order. Alexander is considered an endangered missing person at this time.

(CNN) -- An autopsy was being conducted Thursday on remains found on the bank of a river less than 30 miles from the homes of two missing Illinois women.

Partial skeletal remains were found on the south bank of the Des Plaines River near Channahon, Illinois.

They were found by a marine cleanup crew, the recording said. Authorities have not said whether the remains were thought to be those of a male or female.

Channahon is 20 miles from Bolingbrook, Illinois, where Stacy Peterson lived with her husband, former police officer Drew Peterson.

Stacy Peterson disappeared in October 2007. Her husband has been named a suspect in her disappearance, but he has maintained his innocence, saying she left him for another man.
Stacy Peterson, 23 when she was last seen, was Drew Peterson's fourth wife. This month, Drew Peterson, 55, was indicted on murder charges in the 2004 death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, while the two were in the midst of a nasty divorce. He has pleaded not guilty.

Savio's death was originally deemed an accident, but authorities took a second look at the case after Stacy Peterson's disappearance.

Channahon is also 15 miles from Plainfield, Illinois, where Lisa Stebic was last seen in April 2007.
On the day she went missing, she petitioned a court to have her husband, Craig, evicted from their Plainfield home. Craig Stebic told police he was working in the backyard when his 37-year-old wife left home about 6 p.m., taking her cell phone and purse.

Authorities have said they believe that Lisa Stebic was the victim of foul play and have named Craig Stebic a suspect.

A man has been charged with murder and a woman has been charged with being an accessory after the fact in connection with the case of missing Woodstock, Ont. girl Victoria "Tori" Stafford.
Police spent Wednesday morning in Guelph, Ont. looking for the child's body after arresting the two suspects late last night.

Authorities are expected to release details of the arrest at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The Woodstock, Ont., girl went missing on April 8 and was last seen walking away from her school with an unidentified woman.

A surveillance camera in the area caught the woman and child walking together. Investigators have previously released a composite sketch of a suspect but despite a number of tips from the public, have failed to locate any trace of the child.

Sources say the suspects in custody are a man and woman but they are not the girl's parents, according to crime reporter Sue Sgambati. However, police say they are known to Victoria's family.

Friends and family of the missing child are said to be gathering at the home of Tara McDonald, the girl's mother.

Victoria's aunt Rebecca Stafford said Wednesday on a Facebook group dedicated to finding her niece that she is closing down a portion of the online social networking site to help stop the spread of rumours.

"As we've all heard, there has been police progress in this investigation. Since we are not sure of what is happening, out of respect for my family, I have closed down the wall temporarily," she wrote. "The rumour mill has already been put into overdrive this morning and we are anxiously awaiting the answers to the same questions you are asking.

"Thank you for understanding my desire to protect my family from further uncertainty," she added. "Thank you for all your support during these very trying times."

Victoria abducted

Police believe Victoria was abducted for "sexual purposes," Sgambati told CTV's Canada AM in an interview from Woodstock.

Investigators are now looking for the child's body near Guelph, Ont., with the help of the female suspect, she said.

"This was an opportunistic crime, described to me by sources as a worst-case scenario," Sgambati said. "Police are looking for Tori's body as we speak outside of this jurisdiction."

Although the suspects know Victoria's parents, police don't believe they knew who their daughter was at the time she was kidnapped, Sgambati said.

Craig Racini, whose girlfriend lives next door to the female suspect in Woodstock, said he suspected his neighbour had something to do with the girl's disappearance after he saw the surveillance video.

He said two women moved next door about two months ago and that one of the women recently cut her hair short. Racini said that when he asked her why, she said it was because she got bubblegum stuck in her hair.

Racini said "no comment" when he was asked if he called in the tip to police.

He said he doesn't know a lot about his neighbours but said that he doesn't believe a man lives in the house.

He wouldn't say exactly what made him suspicious but said that "there were hints."

Michael Thomas C.S. Rafferty, 28, and Terri-Lynne McClintic, 18, are both facing charges in connection with the case. They have both been remanded in custody until May 28.

Colorado Springs police say the body found last week in Colorado Springs has been identified as a missing 22-year-old man and two men have been arrested for first degree murder.

Lt. David Whitlock says 22-year-old Jason Holley of Colorado Springs was reported missing on January 7. Jason's family then hired private investigators, who worked with CSPD, for the last four months to search for Jason.

On Thursday, May 7, their investigation came to a halt when a body was found on a popular hiking trail in Cheyenne Canyon. The El Paso County Coroner's Office confirmed the body is that of Jason Holley. The coroner's office says the manner of death was homicide but they have not determined how Jason was killed.

Police have arrested and charged 18-year-old Kyle Stott and 21-year-old Derek Hernandez, both of Colorado Springs, with first degree murder.

This is the 12th homicide in 2009. There were nine homicides in the City of Colorado Springs at this time in 2008.

Town rocked by arrest of Sunday school teacher

TRACY, Calif. – Police and residents were shocked when the suspect in the killing of an 8-year-old girl found stuffed into a suitcase turned out to be a woman, the mother of the slain girl's best friend.

The motive in the killing had not been determined.

Melissa Huckaby, a Sunday school teacher and granddaughter of a minister, was on suicide watch at the San Joaquin County Jail, where she remained in custody Sunday without bail on suspicion of kidnapping and killing Sandra Cantu.

Sandra's body was found in Huckaby's suitcase in an irrigation pond nearly a week ago, police said.

"This was an anomaly in the murder of a child," police Sgt. Tony Sheneman said at a news conference Saturday in this northern California town.

"Finding out that it is a woman who is responsible for Sandra's kidnapping and murder, and then finding out it is a member of the community is another blow."

FBI statistics show women are involved in just 7 percent of murders of any sort.

Solo killings of children by women are even more unusual.

"It's very unusual for women to be involved in an abduction and murder of a child," said Candice DeLong, a retired FBI profiler based in San Francisco.

"Sometimes we see this when the woman is working with a male partner. It does not appear to be the case this time. But this was not a sexually motivated crime."

Sandra disappeared on March 27 and hundreds of volunteers and law enforcement officials turned out to search for her.

Pictures of the girl with dark brown eyes and light brown hair were posted all over Tracy, a city of 78,000 people about 60 miles east of San Francisco.

Police said they received 1,500 tips.

Huckaby, 28, had attended the second of several vigils for the slain girl, Sheneman said.

Police would not say where or how the girl was killed, though investigators said they believed she died very soon after she was last seen.

Autopsy results are not yet available, and investigators declined to say whether they believe the slaying was accidental or deliberate.

Inconsistencies in Huckaby's story led to her arrest, Sheneman said.

There are no other suspects and no other arrests are expected, he said.

Her arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.

Several of Huckaby's relatives appeared briefly before reporters Sunday. One man, who would only describe himself as a member of the family, read a statement saying the allegations against Huckaby were completely out of character.

The man was joined by several other relatives, including Huckaby's grandfather, Clifford Lawless, who is pastor of the nearby Clover Road Baptist Church, which was searched by authorities after Cantu's body was discovered.

Huckaby taught Sunday school at the church and lived with Lawless in the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park that also was Sandra's home.

Huckaby's uncle, John Hughes Jr. of Whittier, told The Associated Press his niece was from a good home, but had hit a rough patch in her life and had moved in with her grandparents in Tracy to get past her troubles.

"They opened their home up to her to try to get her life back on track. I think a lot of families have problems like that," Hughes said.

Huckaby grew up in Orange County and was a "pretty normal kid," he said.

As the eldest of nine grandchildren, she played "mother hen" to the younger children when the family got together for the holidays.

After graduating from high school, Huckaby's path appears to have become rockier.

She married, had a daughter and was divorced in a few short years. She had difficulty finding and keeping a job, partly owing to the challenges of single motherhood, Hughes said.

"She's had her struggles," he said. "But there's no way (her grandparents) or anybody would be fearful that anything this horrifying could possibly come from that."

Huckaby had been scheduled to appear in court on April 17 to check in with a county mental health program as part of a three-year probation sentence for a petty theft charge to which she pleaded no contest.

She was arrested late Friday, about five hours after she drove herself to the local police station at the request of officers.

"She was calm, cool and collected, then she became very emotional," Sheneman said.

It was not immediately clear if Huckaby had hired an attorney to speak for her.

She had worked as a checker at a Food for Less grocery store in a strip mall just east of the mobile park for nearly four years, until she was fired sometime in 2004, said Matt Duncan, an assistant manager at the store now known as FoodMaxx.

"I wouldn't have anything bad to say about her, until now," said Duncan, who has worked at the store off and on for about 10 years. "I would've never suspected her to do something like this."

Attempted murder, sex assault trial starts with insanity defense

Milagro Cunningham, 21, is on trial for sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl in 2005 and leaving her to die, buried beneath 197 pounds of concrete blocks in a Lake Worth trash bin.

"I am going to tell you right now it was my client that did this," his defense attorney told jurors in opening statements Thursday. "I'm going to ask you to do the most difficult thing anyone has ever asked you to do."

Assistant Public Defender Travis Dunnington told jurors he would ask them to find Cunningham was insane at the time of the crime, urging them not to focus on the emotion of the case, but on the law.

Dunnington said he will present evidence beginning with Cunningham's mother using cocaine while pregnant with him through behavior abnormalities throughout his life.

"In fact, he is autistic," Dunnington said. "You will hear ... how this dysfunction directly led to this horrible crime being committed."Unfortunately this is who Milagro Cunningham is," Dunnington said.

Cunningham is charged with attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping of a child less than 13, aggravated child abuse and three counts of sexual battery on a child. He faces life in prison if convicted as charged.

Last year, Dunnington and prosecutors reached a plea agreement for Cunningham calling for 25 years in prison. That deal was rejected by Circuit Judge Charles Burton, who said in good conscience he could not accept such a term in so serious a case.

The trial continues Monday and is expected to last through Wednesday.

Pennsylvania State Police are looking for a violent registered sex offender that has vanished with a mentally challenged New Castle woman.

Forty four year old Robert Brian Hebb is believed to be on his way to Tennessee with 20 year old Gabriella Trayer.

According to family and the girl's case worker, Gabriella has poor reasoning skills and functions at the level of a 10 to 12 year old. She first met up with Hebb a few months ago at a community center for mentally challenged individuals. It was then that her mother, Rita Willis, says she tried to warn her daughter about Hebb.

Robert Brian Hebb is about five foot six inches tall and weighs about 155 pounds and goes by the nickname "Chief."

He is driving a 1992 tan and maroon Chevrolet SUV that's in poor condition.

TECUMSEH, Okla. -- Police are looking for a 14-year-old girl believed to be with a 40-year-old man, possibly in danger.

Deborah Kalai Fourzan, 14, was last seen at 8 a.m. at Tecumseh High School. The girl's parents told police they took her to school on Tuesday but that she never attended any classes.

Police Detective J.R. Kidney said officers have been told she is with James Joseph Reimer, 40, but that there is no definitive proof of it.

"He's 40-years-old, she's 14. We just don't believe that is a good combination and can have a good result," Kidney said.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Reimer, who is accused of texting sexual content to Fourzan.

The convenience store where Reimer worked -- Spring Hill Grocery, near the intersection of highways 9 and 102 -- reported a cash theft on Monday afternoon. Officers said that several thousand dollars were taken from the store.

"Just bring her home, just let her come home," Deborah's mother Crystal Vanbuskirk said.

Vanbuskirk said she found several text messages from Reimer on her daughter’s cell phone.

The family said they used to consider Reimer a close family friend.

"The messages just kept coming in and coming in and coming in. There were thirty-plus messages of him calling her his lover. ‘I love you. How come you're not calling me back?’

He did not know she was grounded from her phone this time," Vanbuskirk said.

Detectives said they were investigating Reimer when he disappeared Monday morning.

Deborah’s friends said she told them she was leaving town with Reimer.

Students at Tecumseh High School told detectives they believe Reimer might have taken Fourzan to California.

The girl’s mother said the family is just staying positive and hoping for the best.

"She's 14-years-old. She needs to be home with her family," Vanbuskirk said.

There are no vehicle descriptions.

Fayetteville, N.C. — A North Carolina Amber Alert was issued late Friday for Dillon Jordan Cromartie, 2, of Fayetteville.

Dillon is described as Hispanic with light skin, 2 feet tall and about 40 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve blue and white shirt, brown pants, white shoes and a brown jacket.

The child’s uncle, Lee David Currie, is considered a suspect in the abduction, authorities said.

Currie, 60, is described as black, 5-foot-10 and 220 pounds. He has black and gray hair, brown eyes and a scar on his left cheek. He has last seen wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans.

Authorities said the abduction occurred at 8243 Umstead Drive in Fayetteville on Thursday.

Currie is reportedly driving a white 1993 BMW 740i with North Carolina tag number PZW8080.

The child's family reported the abduction late Friday afternoon, according to a release from Fayetteville Police Department spokeswoman Theresa Chance.

Family members told police Currie has a history of abusing illegal narcotics and was last seen driving late Friday afternoon around Eastern Boulevard.

Unregistered sex offender who has gone on the run considered a threat by local authorities

A man who molested a young girl at a Montgomery County playground has gone on the run, and the U.S. Marshals would like the public’s help in finding him.

In 2001, Nelson Antonio Reyes met an 11-year-old girl and fondled her at a park near his apartment complex in Langley Park, marshals said.

Reyes, now 30, was convicted, sent to prison, released and ordered to register as a child sex offender. But he fled in 2004 and has not been seen since, authorities said.

“He is a child sexual offender and he is a regional threat,” said Matthew Burke, supervisory inspector with the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Reyes is listed as 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds. He has lived in 9300 block of Piney Branch Road in Langley Park and in the 3400 block of Dodge Park Road in Landover.

Reyes, who is from El Salvador, sometimes uses the last name Barriantos-Reyes. Authorities don’t have any information indicating that he has fled the U.S., but many offenders cross state and international borders to try to fall through the cracks in communication between state registries, Burke said.

Those sex offenders who do cross state lines face severe penalties under the Adam Walsh Act, the federal law named after the murdered 6-year-old son of “America’s Most Wanted” host John Walsh, Burke said.

Anyone with information on Reyes’ whereabouts can call the U.S. Marshals Service at 301-489-1717 or 800-336-0102.

Law enforcement authorities are offering a reward for information leading to an arrest. The Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, run by the U.S. Marshals Service, is composed of 28 federal, state and local agencies from Baltimore to Norfolk.

The unit has captured more than 19,000 wanted fugitives since its creation in 2004.

Police say teen sex offender at risk of re-offending

Fond du Lac police were going door to door Wednesday alerting residents in a South Hickory Street neighborhood about a sex offender in their midst.

Jacob Schwendimann, 18, is living at 31½ S. Hickory St., according to a sex offender notification release from the Fond du Lac Police Department.

Capt. Kevin Lemke said the department decided on public notification because it believes Schwendimann is at risk of re-offending. Schwendimann was convicted of three counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child and one count of exposing himself to a child, all in Washington County.

The incidents began when Schwendimann was 13 years old and he was charged as a juvenile in each case. He served time in a juvenile facility.

Lemke said three of the charges — the second-degree sexual assault charges — took place while Schwendimann was in custody on the other charge.

"That's why we think he may re-offend," Lemke said.

Because Schwendimann was charged as a juvenile, his mandatory release date was his 18th birthday, which occurred on Oct. 22, 2008, Lemke said.

The teen is being released without supervision, meaning he does not fall under probation rules and he is able to live wherever he wants, Lemke said.

Schwendimann must comply with mandatory reporting and register and comply with the state sex offender registry through 2023.

"We have no control over him," Lemke said.

The state Department of Corrections confirmed that Schwendimann may live in Fond du Lac.

In addition to door-to-door visits Wednesday in the immediate area of Schwendimann's new residence, police distributed pamphlets and used an automated phone system message to alert residents in a wider area.

Schools and media also received notification.

Wisconsin law allows local law enforcement to inform the public of a juvenile or adult sex offender's release when, at the discretion of the agency, the release of the information "will enhance public safety and protection," according to the Police Department release on Schwendimann.

Lemke emphasized Schwendimann is not wanted by police.

The notification is not meant to increase fear, but to inform and protect the public.

Residents who threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated, said Chief Tony Barthuly.

Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement's ability to do community notification.

"We believe the only person who wins if community notification ends is the sex offender, since sex offenders derive their power through secrecy," Barthuly said.

SOUTH BEND — Twice in the past two weeks, a man resembling a fugitive sex offender has been spotted at Indiana University South Bend, authorities say.

IUSB spokesman Ken Baierl said a person resembling Rickey Allen Robbins was spotted by a faculty member Jan. 2 and by an administrator Thursday. The first sighting was in the parking garage and at adjacent Wiekamp Hall, he said, and the second on the first floor of the administration building.

The employees reportedly recognized Robbins from a photo of him that has been circulating college campuses.

Robbins, 57, who has family in Union City, Ind., was released from custody in Oregon on Dec. 10 and immediately fled parole, according to a campus e-mail alert. He has been known to target college campuses, sometimes posing as a professor to enter campus buildings.

Robbins has reportedly committed burglaries and sexual offenses at college campuses across the country.

Campus police have alerted the campus community of Robbins’ possible presence, Baierl said. An e-mail alert was sent out Thursday afternoon, he said, and a message and photo were posted on the campus’ electronic bulletin board. Fliers have been posted at the entrances and exits to all campus buildings.

In addition, Baierl said, other Indiana campuses have been alerted, as well as South Bend police.

It is unknown whether Robbins has been spotted anywhere else since he fled. A call to his parole officer in Lane County in Oregon was not immediately returned Thursday evening.

Robbins is described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, 140 pounds with brown eyes and brown and gray hair. He has scars on his abdomen, back and chest.

Authorities are asking anyone who spots him to call local police.

IMMOKALEE: Deputies have been searching since Saturday for a 6 year-old boy who was reported missing. Dozens of law enforcement officers from agencies around Southwest Florida joined over 100 CCSO deputies in the search for Adji Desir.

Adji Desir was last seen leaving his home in Farm Workers Village around 7:15 p.m. to play outside. His grandmother went to check on him and he was gone.

Adji stays with his grandmother and at his uncle’s home most of the time, According to Lieutenant Smith with CCSO.

He was at his grandmother’s house Saturday night. Other children also live in the house.

Investigators have learned that the boy is developmentally disabled and functions on a two-year-old level.

The boy has a very limited vocabulary. He knows his name, but can not speak it.

Adji understands Creole, but can not speak it.

Deputies have talked to children who were outside with Adji when he went missing. They say they were playing and suddenly they noticed he was gone.

A Helicopter completed a search of the swampland near Farm Worker's Village. CCSO said he may be hiding from searchers.

CBS to show Grinstead special again

TIFTON — A re-broadcast of June’s “48 Hours: Vanished, Stolen Beauty,” which features information on the 2005 unsolved disappearance of Irwin County’s Tara Grinstead, will air at 10 p.m. Saturday on CBS.

Three months after Grinstead’s disappearance, Jennifer Kesse vanished from her Orlando, Fla., home. Like Grinstead, Kesse was young, beautiful and successful. And like in Grinstead’s disappearance, there was no sign of forced entry, no sign of a struggle and only Kesse’s keys and purse were missing. Similarly, investigators uncovered a clue that they believe is essential to solving their case – grainy surveillance footage showing an unidentified shadowy figure, who authorities believe could be Kesse’s abductor, emerging from her car.

According to a press release from CBS, the two women lived 300 miles apart but the investigations into their disappearances could hold clues that could be the key to cracking the cases.

Grinstead vanished from her Ocilla home on Oct. 22, 2005 after attending the Georgia Sweet Potato Pageant in nearby Fitzgerald, where she had assisted some of the contestants with their hair and makeup. When she didn’t show up for work on Monday, co-workers at Irwin County High School called the Ocilla Police Dept.

Investigators found no sign of a struggle and only her pocketbook and keys were missing. A latex glove was found in her front yard. The case garnered national attention and hundreds of people joined in the search for Grinstead. Family, friends and co-workers, as well as law enforcement, scoured the county trying to find any clue they could to solve the mystery and give family and friends some answers.

A $100,000 reward is being offered for Grinstead’s safe return and another $100,000 for information leading to the arrest/conviction of the person or people responsible for her disappearance. To contact senior reporter Angie Thompson, call 382-4321.

Predatory sex offender on the loose in Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. -- A predatory sex offender who broke into a home and raped a woman was released from prison last Wednesday only to flee supervision on Friday.

Ricky Allen Robbins remains at large with an active warrant out for his arrest. He is 5-foot-10-inches tall and 170 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Robbins was paroled last Wednesday. By Friday, he had fled from supervision. His whereabouts are not known.

Robbins was in prison until 2007 for the 1983 rape of a woman. Robins broke into the woman's house and raped her. The victim got away, got a gun and shot Robbins, who was arrested and convicted for the crimes.

After his release in 2007, Robbins fled supervision while on parole and traveled to the East Coast.

Police in New York investigated two instances where a suspect broke into a home and rubbed the legs of women while they slept.

DNA evidence found on a hat near the scene of one of the crimes matched Robbins.Robbins was later arrested in New Orleans for viewing child pornography in a university library.

Authorities extradited Robbins back to Oregon and revoked his parole. He had been in prison until last Wednesday.

The Comal County Sheriff's Office issued an Amber Alert Wednesday afternoon for a 6-year-old Texas girl who is believed to be in grave danger.

Officials are searching for Jewel Noel Klein. She's a 6-year-old, white female, with date of birth 12/22/2001.

She is four feet, 60 pounds, and has blonde hair, blue eyes and is said to be wearing a red plaid sundress.

Police are also looking for Tonya Renee Martin, a suspect in the abduction. She's a 41-year-old white female, with date of birth 07/29/1967.

She is 5'2", 107 pounds, and has blonde hair and blue eyes.

The suspect is driving a blue 2005, Hyundai Sonata with a Texas license plate number of 404ZNM.

The suspect was last heard from in Spring Branch, Texas. Law Enforcement officials believe this child to be in grave or immediate danger.

(NECN: Brad Puffer, Lynn, Mass.) - The father of a missing five-year-old boy from Lynn, Massachusetts was back in court today on child endangerment charges, but he's still not talking.

36-year-old Ernesto Gonzalez appeared in Lynn District Court for the first time since his arrest on child endangerment charges three months ago. But, this brief and typical pre-trial hearing offered no further clues to the location of his five-year-old son Giovanni.

"We are asking the public's help in giving us any tip or nay information they have about his case to help find this little boy," said Steve O'Connell of the Essex DA's office. Daisy Colon, Giovanni's mother, sat in the front row. She has only talked to Ernesto once since his arrest.

Colon says she dropped her son off at his apartment for a weekend visit in august, but Giovanni was gone when she returned to pick him up. There has been no sign of him since.

"This case has taken us from Lynn to Lawrence to Puerto Rico with no sign of him yet, but we are not going to give up."

Investigators have traveled also to Florida, believing he may have been taken there. They have searched a nearby pond with divers and several areas with dogs - all looking for clues to what happened.

While many leads have now dried up, the district attorneys office still believes someone holds the clue that could break this case.

"Even if you saw Ernesto that weekend without Giovanni please tell us when and where that was we will follow every lead we get and we will spare no expense and we will spare no manpower in order to try and bring this little boy home."

Today is Brandy Hanna's birthday.

There won't be a party, or a fancy dinner, no one to joke about calling the fire department to put out the 36 candles on her cake. No, this day will pass like the past 1,270 — with her mother, Donna Parent, waiting for the phone to ring.

You see, Brandy is missing.

A lot of people already know the story. On Friday, May 20, 2005, Brandy worked her shift at Alex's Restaurant on Dorchester Road, got a ride to her apartment and, later that evening, talked to her mother on the phone. She had big plans for the weekend — shopping Friday night, the beach Saturday, breakfast with her mother and brother Sunday.

None of that ever happened.

That night, Brandy walked out of her apartment, leaving her money, her clothes, her entire life, behind. No one has seen her since. For the last three-and-a-half years, there have been candlelight vigils for Brandy on every birthday, every anniversary of her disappearance. They are sad affairs of prayer, tears, candles and balloon releases.

But they serve a purpose: they ensure no one forgets Brandy.

This year, her mother instead chose to drive to Conway for another family's vigil.

Six years ago, Alice Donovan was abducted from a Wal-Mart parking lot and killed. Her killers, one of whom is on death row, either can't or won't tell where they left her. Donna thought it was important to honor Brandy by supporting Alice's family.

"I feel like it is the right thing to do," she said Friday. "I know what that family is going through."

Since Brandy's disappearance, Donna has become active in missing person advocacy. She does it for the right reason, to help.

When the newspaper dispatches a photographer for a new picture of her, she asks that we just run a photo of her daughter instead.

She wants no publicity, no fame, no attention. She just wants Brandy back or to at least know what happened.

Not knowing is perhaps the hardest part. Donna wakes up every morning and goes to sleep every night thinking about Brandy. She has had to go through something no parent ever should — she has seen her daughter become a face on a billboard, a story on missing persons Web sites.

She endures it as part of her fight to make sure that no one forgets. This is something you wouldn't wish on anyone, especially not a kind-hearted, generous soul like Donna.

It's a miracle she holds up as well as she does, and has even gotten strong enough to allow the occasional joke to slip out — she laughs that the idea of Brandy being 36 makes her feel old.

Donna has added two new grandchildren to the family in the last couple of years, and they provide her a lot of joy. But even playing with them reminds her how much Brandy would enjoy her new nephew. This is never far from her mind.

Every time another body is found, every time the phone rings, she feels a cold chill. That has become her life.

A few months ago, police thought they had found her in Calhoun County. It wasn't Brandy, just another false alarm, but it brought on another period of unbearable waiting for Donna.

Today will be no different, vigil or not, birthday party or not.

But by now Donna knows that there are people out there who will not forget, who will not give up until she has found her daughter.

Since it's her birthday, maybe some of them will even light a candle for Brandy.

Amber Alert Issued For Kidnapped Dallas 4-Year-Old

DALLAS (CBS 11 News) ― Breaking news in Northeast Dallas where an Amber Alert has been issued for a kidnapped child. Dallas police detectives say a man took off in his ex-girlfriend's car with a 4-year-old girl inside.

The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Tinoco Cipriano, was last seen leaving a shopping plaza at Forest Lane and Audelia Road.

The Dallas Police Department issued the Amber Alert for little Yameli Nava just after 5 p.m.

Cipriano is the common-law husband of the 4-year-old's mother, but not the child's father. The incident began in at the Bent Creek Apartments on Audelia. Police say a 30-year-old woman was putting her daughter, Yameli, in a car, when she discovered her common-law husband, Cipriano, hiding in the backseat.

There was a confrontation inside the vehicle and Cipriano allegedly stabbed the woman.

"She immediately stops the car and jumps out, for fear of her safety," explained Dallas Police Department Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse.

"She was not able to grab the child out of the car before the suspect jumped in the driver's seat and drove off."

The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a red Toyota 4-door vehicle, license plate LWP – 599.

Police have initiated a ground search and are currently going to locations where Cipriano may have fled.

Yameli Nava was last seen wearing a yellow shirt and pink pants. The little girl's mother is at Parkland Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

He was traveling with a 25-year-old black male named Charles Hargrove, possibly in a white four-door Chevrolet Impala with Florida license tag 575 HXD.

Ar'Marion is black, 3 feet tall and 25 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white polo shirt with dark blue jeans, a gray and black jacket and black tennis shoes.

Some information from sources advise that they may be headed to Colorado. Levi had a guitar with him that possibly could be used to pawn for money. He had mentioned wanting to live in the wild in Colorado to fish and hunt, etc. Authorities are contacting pawn shops in the area to see if they noticed Levi or Paige selling any items for money.

Neither Paige or Levi have a Driver’s License or much experience driving a motor vehicle. Levi is known to be bi-polar and off his meds. He has threatened suicide, but is not known to have a weapon. Levi took Paige from a football game in Lathrop, MO Friday night after having altercation with parents. Destination is unknown, some friends of Levi’s have mentioned he always wanted to be a “rock star” in California. Paige has some biological family in Pine Bluff, Arkansas Area. DES MOINES, Iowa -- Metro police are asking for help finding a woman wanted in connection with several crimes.

Andrea Turner, 38, faces three counts of child endangerment and one count of fourth-degree theft. Police said she should be considered dangerous.

Investigators did not elaborate on the crimes but said she is also a person of interest in several cases in Des Moines and West Des Moines.

Turner is a black female, 5-feet 4-inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. She also has several scars on her face.

Police said she sometimes uses the aliases Rochelle Smithe and Andrew Nevilles.

Kidnapped boy found in Las Vegas

A 6-year-old Las Vegas boy believed to have been kidnapped by drug dealers has been found alive at a bus stop in the city, authorities say.

Las Vegas police say Cole Puffinburger, 6, the subject of a nationwide amber alert missing child search, was found just before 11 p.m. Saturday after a four-day investigation, KVVU-TV, Las Vegas, reported. His condition was not released.

Cole's grandfather, Clemons Tinnemeyer, 51, is in custody in California. Police officials said Tinnemeyer's alleged debts to a Mexican drug gang may have been the motivation for the kidnapping, in which armed men disguised as police officers broke into the boy's home Wednesday, tied up his mother and stepfather and abducted him at gunpoint.

After Tinnemeyer was apprehended Friday in California, police canceled the amber alert for Cole. Las Vegas authorities told KVVU they were looking for a second person of interest, Jesus Gastelum, described as a man in his 30s who may have ties to both the drug gang and Cole's family.

Grandfather of abducted Nevada boy arrested

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The grandfather of a kidnapped 6-year-old Nevada boy was arrested in Southern California after police named him a "person of interest" in the abduction.

Clemons Fred Tinnemeyer was arrested late Friday in Riverside by United States Marshals, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's records. He was being held at the Central Detention Center in the city of San Bernardino.

Investigators said they believe the child's kidnapping may be linked to Tinnemeyer's drug dealings with Mexican nationals.

U.S. Marshals' and Las Vegas police officials had no further information about the arrest early Saturday. San Bernardino County sheriff's officials did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

The boy, Cole Puffinburger, was abducted from a Las Vegas home Wednesday morning by three men posing as police officers. Police said they believe the men were Mexican drug dealers and that the kidnapping at gunpoint was a "message" to Tinnemeyer.

Tinnemeyer, 51, may have stolen millions of dollars from the Mexican nationals, said Officer Cris Johnson, a Las Vegas police spokesman. Johnson declined to say what role Tinnemeyer played in the drug operation or whether the kidnappers were seeking a ransom.

Police believe methamphetamine was involved, Johnson said. A nationwide Amber Alert remained in effect after two men tied up Cole's mother and her boyfriend at their house Wednesday and abducted Cole.

Las Vegas police Capt. Vincent Cannito said a third man was believed to be involved and that police had "several" other persons of interest in the case, but no suspects in the abduction.

Authorities also were investigating whether other family members had ties to the drug operation, Johnson said. "Money is a huge factor, obviously.

Drugs are a huge factor," Johnson said. "The only innocent person involved in this entire operation is the boy."

Police: Cole's grandfather "person of interest"

The search for Cole Puffinburger has gone nationwide and now possibly international. News 3's Dan Ball reports that police say Mexican drug dealers are responsible for the six-year-old's kidnapping.

Detectives are now looking for Clemens Fred Tinnemeyer as a person of interest in the disappearance of six-year-old Cole Puffinburger.

Cole was kidnapped at gunpoint during a home invasion early Wednesday morning. Tinnemeyer is Cole's grandfather and police are now confirming they believe it was his involvement in drug trafficking and stolen drug money that led to Cole's abduction.

"Tinnemeyer has stolen a large sum of money, all proceeds from illegal drug activity," says Metro Capt. Vincent Cannito.

"They wanted to send a very clear message. They got the attention of an entire nation."

Tinnemeyer, who goes by "Clem," hasn't been seen or heard from since May. His family reported him missing on September 11.

Tinnemeyer is 5'10" tall, weighs approximately 210 to 250 pounds, and has hazel eyes and brown hair. Police have released photos of the vehicle they believe he may be driving. It's a white Dodge, four-door pick-up truck with the Mississippi license plate number KA6251.

At a press conference Friday, detectives said they believe the suspects are from Mexico and have ties to some sort of organized drug operation.

"We believe that they are Mexican nationals," says Capt. Cannito.

"We have reason to believe that the network we are dealing with is very aware of the situation."

The search for Cole has now reached an international level, with media outlets plastering his picture on national news outlets and online web sites such as Missing Kids, MySpace, and Amber Alert. These sites are constantly updating the latest details on the search.

Authorities have hundreds of detectives and officers working every lead that they receive with the hope that one will lead them to Cole.

"We will not stop looking for this child," assures Capt. Cannito. "This agency has gone on a 24-hour watch."

Six-year-old Cole Puffinberger is 3'11" tall, weighs 48 pounds, and has blonde hair and blue eyes. He also has distinctly stained front teeth, an overbite, and wears silver wire-rimmed prescription glasses. Cole was last seen wearing a black John Cena wrestling shirt, dark jeans, black Vans shoes, and a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt with black, blue, and white stars.

Metro mentioned that Mexican drug dealers are responsible for Cole's kidnapping. While police haven't said if it is one individual or an entire organization, they do know that Mexican drug cartels have caused a surge in violence and kidnappings in the United States.

Drug trafficking has claimed 3,800 lives this year alone.

In June, President Bush approved a bill to set aside $400 million to aid Mexico in this drug battle.

News 3's Katherine Whaley reports that Tinnemeyer, Cole's grandfather and a person of interest in his kidnapping, is also a convicted criminal.

The 51-year-old also owns a home here in Las Vegas. It's only a block away from Cole's elementary school. People who live nearby say they often saw Cole at the Tinnemeyer's house.

One neighbor says Cole even lived there for a time. Neighbors who knew Tinnemeyer are feeling very uneasy. Even though Cole and his family were targeted, they are warning their children to watch out for people they don't know.

Clemens Tinnemeyer seems to have simply vanished.

In the missing persons report filed by his family, his wife Diane, believed to be a janitor at Cole's elementary school, says Tinnemeyer is an RV driver who would leave home for weeks at a time.

She claims she hasn't seen him since May of this year.

For police, finding out what happened to Tinnemeyer could provide some vital information in the desperate search for six-year-old Cole.

Father Primary Suspect in Child's Disappearance

Racquel Butler has been franticly searching for the whereabouts of her seven-year-old daughter Zaria Marceo, who has been missing since September 1.

Zaria spends every other weekend with her father, Dahnje Marceo, who was supposed to drop Zaria off at the police station for Butler to pickup. Marceo never showed up with Zaria, and they have not been seen since.

Butler and Marceo separated before Zaria was born, and Butler has claimed that Marceo has been making her and Zaria’s lives a struggle ever since. Butler claims that Marceo can be abusive, and that Zaria has expressed that she did not want to spend weekends with her father.

Butler was awarded full custody of Zaria, who attends Baldwin Hills Elementary School. Butler claims that Marceo not only harasses her, but also her 17 year-old son, who has a different father.

It would appear that Marceo might have help because he is a triple amputee, and according to Butler, he is unemployed. He does not pay child support. Butler says that Marceo has ties in the Belizean community, and in the past has threatened to take Zaria to Belize.

Butler cried out for community help at a tearful press conference in front of the Sentinel.

“If anybody sees her, please, please call the police, please return her safe,” Butler said. “Just call 9-1-1. He might be violent.

Since he is a triple amputee his mind is starting to deteriorate. He’s kind of a danger to others. If you see him do not approach him. Just follow him and call the police.”

Residents with tips on the case can contact the Los Angeles Police Department’s South West Division at (213) 485-2586.

“We’d like the public’s help in locating this child,” said Detective Allen.

“Anyone would want their child returned to them if they were missing. This is somebody who would definitely stick out in the community if you saw him.”

Marceo is missing both legs and one arm. He has artificial limbs and is using public transportation to travel.

Los Angeles City Councilman Bernard Parks secured a $25,000 reward for information that leads to returning Zaria home safely.

Farmington Hills Police and Canton Police are investigating the case of a runaway 17-yr-old male from Canton and a runaway 15-yr-old female from Farmington Hills. Police have issued an Amber Alert on the 15-yr-old female.

They believe the couple may harm themselves and that they may have made a suicide pact.

They both attend school at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park. They were last seen after school Wednesday.

The girl was last seen at the school around 3pm, and the boy received a call and left his house in Canton around 3:30pm.

The girl's name is Amanda Joy White, and she's described as a white female, 15 years old, about 5'4" 120 lbs, with brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans with white stitching, flat style shoes and a camouflage backpack.

The boy's name is Jeremiah Andrew York. He's described as a white male, 5'11" 135 lbs, with curly brown hair. He was seen wearing a red hooded zip-up sweathshirt with skateboards on it, and black sweatpants.
